Another contest I couldn't compete in due to early morning Saturday obligations
that require missing most of Saturday AM. As in the last few contests, I was in
it just to help give points to as many people as possible so I used high power.
The band was excellent Friday night, little atmospheric noise, AMTRAK is a
constant RFI but it was actually pretty quiet for the most part, maybe my
request to them to wash the insulators was acted on. Lots of DX on, most could
hear me, I missed a few tasty new ones that couldn't hear me though they were
booming here. Sunday was tough with a lot of atmospheric noise and some
electrical buzz for extended periods of time. Miserable PITA RFI is...
No ATNO to help my DXCC on 160 but I did work a few I needed on 160 SSB and
that's always a fun bonus.
Worked many who I usually hear and even had some fairly lengthy QSOs as well,
one of the low key & fun aspects to The Gentleman's band. Speaking of which,
there were several YLs I heard contesting and it's great to hear everyone
participating and having fun.
Looking forward to getting back to serious contesting soon but as I have a beam
only on 6M, I really enjoy the equality of competing on 160 and I'll have to
wait till next fall to do so. God willing, I'll be there.
