Comments:
K3CCR is the club station at the Collington continuing-care
retirement community at FM 18OW in MD, just east of DC. N3UM and
W3GB did Multi-Op HP in the 2019 CQ 160 SSB.
To start W3GB got 75 Qs, 22 St/Pv mults, and VP9 2211-2356Z. Good
run rate, 60/hr, but runs were short, 43 and then 20 Qs. N3UM took
the next 2.3 hr. and got a 60/hr hr. run rate for 99 Qs and 7 more
St/Pv mults as sunset moved west, plus VP2M and ZF.
W3GB then did well in a long late shift, 0228-0756Z. Rates were
slow, with just one late run of 20 Qs in 40 min, BUT he got 11 more
St/Pv mults and 13 more countries, 6 of them in EU. At QRT, totals
were 254 Qs, 41 St/Pv, and 16 countries.
Sat. we went to MO2C (Multi-Op 2 Contest) mode and did NAQP RTTY
with 2 Tx on 20 and 40 m, 1800-0230Z. W3GB then went to 80m. RTTY
and did well till near the end of NAQP.
N3UM went back to 160 SSB 2338-0130 and got only 49 Qs in 2 hr.
After a 1-hr. break he got better rates, 80 Qs in 2 hr. To QRT
he got 4 fast but short runs, each only 11 to 31 Qs. N3UM’s late
shift was not nearly as productive as W3GB’s a day earlier; just 2
new countries, S5 and OK, and 7 St/Pv mults, only ND and AZ far west.
No whisper of CA or any W7s besides AZ.
N3UM tuned for a while after his last Q at 0632Z but found only dupes.
We claimed 76 fewer Qs and one less mult than we did in 2018 CQ 160 SSB
when QRN was less and propagation better.
