Comments:
Decided to give the new IC-7300 a whirl to add some hits to my paltry SSB DXCC
totals. Not a good weekend for S&P DX chasing. But with a bad cold,
bronchitis, over 3 ft of snow and sub zero F temps with gusty NE winds, staying
inside next to the radio and a heater beat doing anything else.
EU openings both days were short and shallow on 20. Almost nothing EU on 40 and
80. Only a few stns heard and Q'd on 160. 15 and 10 were completely dead here.
The usual Caribbeans, SA and the Pacific provided the only real action. 20
seemed to have a muzzle on it until Sunday afternoon when sigs finally sounded
at usual strengths. Clicking spots on the bandscope helped immensely to find and
work new stns and countries.
You realize condx are worse than gawdawful when you scan the bands hearing K3LR
dozens of times calling incessant CQs without any answers. They even ran in
Spanish at times to attract SA stns. This has surely got the be the bottom of
the sunspots barrel.
At least it was fun to hand out the Mike Tango mult. Did not hear any other MTs
on.
