Comments:

Finally had one radio setup and operational in the new shack.. and no work
commitments for the weekend. so was able to put in a decent effort.
Found conditions to be lousy especially on 80 , and 20 meters into EU was a real
struggle,,only some what productive on Sunday morning.. Saturday morning was a
bust,,I did catch a brief 10 meter opening Saturday afternoon, spot light style
into SA,, BUT... most all contacts on 20 and and all contacts on 15 were into SA
and the Caribbean, with the exception of the only run I could get going, was on
20.
into JA and OC Sat afternoon,,
Both days, early mornings, produced fair runs for about 2 hours each into JA and
OC..on 40
and just a few EU in log on 40 for both days.
Highlights of the contest were....A)..having OUTLAW Pres N6SS/DU6 answer my CQ
on 40, Sunday morning and being about chat for a few minutes,, THANKS Pres.. it
was a nice surprise,, and B.) running across Rick, W0RIC, who called me on 40
and while we were discussing the lousy conditions,, I mentioned my dismay with
20 into EU, he gave me a tip to point over the pole, and that made a big
difference for me into EU on 20,, Thanks Rich!!
Still a LOT to learn about low band contesting, especially since I have been
involved in the NOSE bleed bands for such a long time, which has totally
different types of contesting parameters,,,BUT I am so glad to have the wealth
of Knowledge and friendship from the OUTLAWS as my mentors !!! Thanks again to
ALL the outlaws who have taken the time to give me advice and direction..
and as Pres Andy said every time I worked him this past weekend...
GO OUTLAWS!!!
Tom
