Comments:
>From bottom flat X-rays the Sun suddenly got active over the weekend,
and its surface is hosting a sunspot number of 40. There's been a couple
of near M-class flares, but the overall integral ionizing energy is not
so high to affect MUF very much... Measured relative RF-energy in the
shack and decided to run LP while using the temporary 2-el 14 MHz on
the metal roof straight overhead. Also the Dentron MT-3000A is not able
to handle HP any more (damaged decks)... As a general rule it seems to
be good practice to vary the length of coax runs to hi-SWR antennas
in order to avoid high voltage at the antenna tuner... SWR on the
vertical is too high for a linear on all bands, but the FT-990 seems
to handle it on LP... Cheers/73, Zaba OH1ZAA CWops #1856 (LP today).
