I found out late Friday night after careful research that the northwest FN12
hilltop I wanted to use goes off limits half way through the sprint. So I went
with Plan B which was another new-to-me hilltop, this one in central FN12. I
drove 2.5 hours to get there, only to find a gated access road. I thought about
turning right around and going back home, but found a parking lot nearby and set
up despite signal blockage from the summit. Due to the external preamp and
replacement amplifier not being installed yet, I could feed my 5-el Yagi with
only transceiver power at 100w. After a late start, I shut down early as planned
in order to avoid rain as well as get an early start on the 150-mile drive home.
