Comments:
Conditions were down on Saturday with a K-index of 5. Missed out on a chance to
get DM94, a tough grid for me. The guys on that rove got to the grid and
conditions had deteriorated so much that there was nothing to be had. I
appreciate K5ND and friends for activating that grid, though. Have to try
another time. Sunday started out fairly slowly, but things picked up very well
by the afternoon. Conditions were so good, that a lot of guys showed up on SSB
and even CW for some nice analog QSOs, just like old times. Worked as far as
FN58 to the northeast and was heard by two stations in Japan. But, I didn't work
them. Missed out on the big JA opening on Saturday night due to having the wrong
receive antenna switched in. At the time of the opening, I just couldn't believe
that my luck was so bad. :-< So, ultimately, this contest turned out to be
okay. Fun working the big guns back east. IC-7800 > HB amplifier > 6M9KHW
at 80 feet.
