According to Sir Issac:

F=ma  or  a=F/m

This was a tough contest which put the mass in masochist and the Force wasn't
with me, so I got very little acceleration. You do the math.

I got off to a bad start due to electrical storms moving through. As a 6 hour
entry I figured my best operating time would be about 4-10 pm locally. But
storms were predicted so I watched the lightning maps all afternoon. And on they
came, lumbering along, aimed right at me. I should have started earlier and
gotten some time in before they arrived, but I didn't, so I had to shut down
after only 40 minutes and didn't get back on until about 7:30 pm, losing about
three hours of prime time.

Aside from the storms and their QRN, conditions were poor and I found it very
tough going. This just made me more determined to forge on, being old and
stubborn.

80m wasn't productive at all with very bad evening distortion as the D layer
dissipated and the F layers sorted themselves out. 40m was better but I missed a
lot on 20m due to the storms. Again, I experienced worse QRN on 40m than 80m.

One bright spot is I had 28% of my Qs running, which is high.

I ran GRITTY which I don't normally do (too much more to watch) but I needed all
the help I could get. BTW, I've heard it said that GRITTY should be run on a
wide open passband, but I've never run it that way, instead at 350 or 400 Hz,
and it works just fine so I don't understand the issue. I always have to
initially calibrate it to my mark/space tones, but once it's set, all is well.
Rock on.

Thanks for the QSOs under difficult conditions. I'm looking forward to more RTTY
in the upcoming NAQP. I hope conditions are better.

Ken, AB1J
