Comments:

I had organized time off work for this, IARU is a big favorite of mine.

Set up the antenna's mid week, when weather was beautiful (thank goodness i did,
weather stunk right up till Sunday)
Went with an all wires affair again, knowing that they perform pretty well from
this location in previous contests.
Towers are stored away, until September when the big permanent construction
begins there.

Onto the contest.
Bands were somewhat poor, but as always they came alive when the contest
started.
This far north 10m was open, but it was very spotlight and kept disappearing, it
was much better on early Sunday morning.
I heard plenty of people further south than me working NA/SA, but i heard
absolutely nothing from that area.
20m was very short for the duration of the contest, it was also open all night
long. Nothing heard from Far East or JA and not a lot heard or worked from
SA/Caribbean.
40m was much better for long distance through the night, super loud sigs from
NA/SA and many called me when i found a clear freq to run.
80m was as to be expected, busy and a place where you are guaranteed to have
some nice runs (QRP standard).
160m was difficult, the antenna i used there was very low, although it worked it
was not very efficient, so tried to just pick off what mults i could and not
waste too much time there.

Before the contest, i set my QSO target to around 700 Q's and was planning to
operate the full 24 hours with no breaks, except for the Nature break :)

The QSO count i wanted was broken just after 12 hours, i was able to keep a
solid 50+ Q/Hour rate over most of the contest, except for in the small hours
when i fell asleep at the keyer for 1 hour! Sorry to anyone who called me and
got ignored. i must apologize, i have never done that before in my life. i must
be getting old!.

Overall i am delighted with the results here, it really shows what can be done
in the bottom of a solar cycle, with 5 Watts and some wires, if you have the
patience. QRP is certainly not easy, but that's why i love it!
This score would have been enough to win 2018 IARU.
So lets see what happens when scores are ready.
Fingers crossed it will be enough.

Until next time.
73, Scott
MM3AWD
