Comments:
This has always been a fun summer event at K8AZ. This year, a total of 16 hams
who contribute to the station turned out for the contest and the annual grilled
steak dinner, traditionally served at 2359z Saturday, the halfway-point. Great
camaraderie and conversations among friends, with many of those friendships
spanning more than five-plus decades. Plus a first-class contest happening at
the same time.
The IARU rules, while a bit antiquated, are nevertheless challenging for
strategy and make one of the last multi-mode HF contests really fun. And,
especially in the summer, the 24-hour duration is a big plus.
Congratulations to all the other great scores out there, and kudos to all the
folks who got on the air to make the level of activity surprisingly high.
73,
Tom, K8AZ
