Comments:
Smith Island, MD are a number of small islands in the Chesapeake Bay that are
about 5 miles from the Eastern Shore mainland, only reachable by boat. They are
primarily salt marsh. About 250 people live there and that drops to about half
that over the winter.
Had to push back my trip a day so arrived 8 hours or so after contest started.
Put up antennas quick and had fun running to give out the multiplier. 20m was
tough going with weak signals and qsb but 40m was loads of fun. Operating 40m on
the salt marsh with my 40ft high inverted vee felt like using a yagi stack.
73 to all;
Steve
