Comments:
I made 1 223 qso from near DM04ne home QTH on Sat night.
from approx. 2400 ft in the Santa Monica Mts (DM04qb) I made 28 qsos on 135, 70,
33, & 23 cm bands using a combo of SSB & FM. Best DX was K6MYC
(DM07)(LOUD!) on 135 cm; least DX was 1 km. WA6OSX (CM98) also hrd on 135 cm; 2
SOTA hikers, KN6DFX & KN6DGS, who passed license tests a week ago came by
while hiking to peak of Saddleback Pk: I lent them alnico handhelds for 135, 33,
23 cm: they worked me and some others in LAX area! We also had lots of visitors
who asked about ham radio & RACES/ACS/ERES; bugs bad & 90F, occasional
motorcycle exhaust was 100dB above noise level!!, BUT Woodie, WA6WDT & I had
lots of fun in the mountains. Woodie was chief logistics man and PR/PIO for
visitors. (WE had QSOs with DM03, 04, 07, 12, & 13. & hrd CM98)
