Comments:
K3CCR is the club station at the Collington continuing-care
retirement community at FM 18OW in MD, just east of DC. In the
2019 MDC QSO Party, N3UM and W3GB did Multi-Op in the Club
Category with 2 transmitters.
In past MDC QPs we found that running worked best, so we ran for
92% of our total QSOs. As expected, there were far more ops on
SSB than on CW. W3GB did only SSB and made 284 total Qs.
N3UM made 95 CW Qs on 3 bands, but when the CW rate dropped he
did SSB and got 113 more Qs for a total of 208. Most N3UM SSB Qs
were made on 40 and 80m. while W3GB was doing very well running
on 20m. SSB. W3GB made 209 SSB Qs in ~5 hrs, 1635-2130Z. He also
got 45 SSB Qs on 40m. early, and 30 on 80m. late.
We did well on QSO points; got 62 to 93 points in 8 of our 11
on-air hours. Only 167 of our 803 points, 21%, came from QRP,
Club, and Mobile QSOs. We got half our mults, 33, in the first
2 hrs, 14-16Z. Then, in the next 8 hrs. we got 32 more, 4/hr. avg,
plus 1 more late.
On all bands we worked 45 states, all but DE, NV, AK, and HI,
but only ON, QC, and MAR in VE. We made just 54 MD Qs, 11% of
our total 492, in 13 MD counties plus WDC; 32 of the MD Qs were
on 80m, CW and SSB. We had fun, and intend to be back in 2020.
