Finished repairing an old radio Wednesday before the and decided to try it out
in the contest. Hadn't really intended on putting in a lot of effort but ended
up going the distance albeit much more relaxed than past years.
Ants: Skyhawk at 50 ft fixed wire beams on 40 ,
Radios: 20M TS940S, 40/80M K3.
Band dropped dead about 2200 Sat So I waited till just before sundown for it to
return. Not much DX only DL SM F and JA. Did pick up most states 45+ ???.
80M ant was dysfuntional and had to just tune whatever was out there in the
darkness so 80M Q total was abysmal.
N5NA was steady as always 30-40 db above the floor. Only losing Sat afternoon.
AD4EB was very good this year again 30-40db above the floor and only losing Sat
afternoon.
W3DYA was around 20-30 db above the floor until Sat afternoon .
Did not hear N4CD at all this year. Perhaps fell into the RF Black Hole of South
Texas ?
Had to battle modest amout of line noise on 40 this year and 20 was bit noisy as
well .
