Comments:

SOAPBOX: First contest after putting the station back together. Had overhauled
SOAPBOX: the box that contains the balun and matching of the 160m Inverted L
SOAPBOX: and had it nicely sealed with lots of silicone. Tests at low pwr went
SOAPBOX: fine but adding HP at 7pm FL time revealed that I could not put any
SOAPBOX: more than 500W into the antenna without getting a high SWR amp
SOAPBOX: failure. I went outside and found that our ants really seem to like
SOAPBOX: fresh silicone. The new sealing was completely gone and since Tropical
SOAPBOX: Storm Nestor dropped about three inches of rain on us the night
SOAPBOX: before, the box had water inside which caused the series cap to arc. I
SOAPBOX: dried the inside of the box, retuned the antenna and the problem went
SOAPBOX: away. In other news, after reading multiple complaints about me not
SOAPBOX: hearing any EU stations calling me last time, I put up a K9AY loop and
SOAPBOX: tested it extensively. I am really pleased with it and consider it a
SOAPBOX: great addition to the station. LY7M was the most-distant DX, but I
SOAPBOX: also worked DL, I, F, G and SE. 73 es CU in Big Stew!
