First SSB contest. Thanks to Bob KE2D, Bud AA3B, and Tom N2SR for the help. The
new West Mountain CI-V cable with big triple wrapped ferrite toroids seems to
have solved the RFI problem. The rig and N1MM+
worked flawlessly. I was really discouraged Friday evening, lots of noise and
couldn't get through pileups. But things improved in early Sat. morning hours.
Learned to have a lot of patience in pileus and adjust my freq off zero beat to
have my voice sound higher pitch just as I do in CW contests. Never heard
anything on 10 meters. 15 opened up for me on Sunday afternoon. Usually never
hear anything on either of those bands so the 15 opening surprised me. Enjoyed
working UB7K. Working 60 countries with a 30' wire and 100 watts is always a
thrill. Can't wait for the CW next month!
