What a great surprise to hear the bands so alive especially on 10 and 15
meters.
Saturday the propagation on 15 was very good (but without a single station fron
NA in the log) and surprisingly good on 10. Low bands conditions were great both
on 40 and 80 with a low noise and unbelievable good propagation. No way to
operate on SSB on Top Band.
Unfortubately on Sunday the conditions were very different. Short openings both
on 10 and 15 and noisy 40 and 80 meters.
I operated for 40 hours even if I dedicated 50% of the time to S&P.
Sometimes I spent more than 20/30 minutes calling a rare mult trying to break
the European wall like happened (successfully) with SU8X on 15 meters or
unsuccessfully like with D4C on 80. The only two QSOs on 80 meters with african
stations were with CN3A and EF8R.
One hour and half before the end of the contest, finally a short opening via
North Pole to Zone 5 and 4 on 20 meters gave me the possibility to log some big
guns from East Coast (starting with K3LR, VE3EJ, W3LPL, W3PP and many other).
No way (almost as usual) to contact a single station from the "black
hole" zones 7,8 and 9!!!!
