Comments:
Rough time with computer locking up on 80 CW. RF or something is getting into
the computer. Quits in mid qso. everything else worked fine. XYL out of town, so
I got to do operate. Lots of good DX this year, I worked a lot of AF and even
some Asia. Seems like we had some sunspots this weekend.
10M was dead, not unusual. 15 was good Saturday morning allowing a pretty good
country total. It was quite long though, not much VE but I was able to get my
USA and 3,4 and 5 zones. Much easier to work without getting yelled at in a CW
contest. Zone 15 gave me 81 contacts where 14 was second with 72. I worked 17
zone 25! with 100 watts. 20m was quiet later in the day and starting out on the
top of the band makes it easier for low power stations to work. As for the hard
to work zones, I worked 4 zone 39 contacts! 6 in zone 35 and a zone 38.
I heard lots of other zones, but its hard to break some of those pileups with
1/10 the power of almost everyone else. Thank goodness for the band pas filters,
two 5B4AGN kit filters, fun to build and really a help for SO2R. Everything was
search and pounce except I did call CQ and one guy in California came back. I
was proud to give him a Zone 4 for a multiplier!
Thanks to everyone that answered when I called and for the friends I heard from
again.
73, Craig KD9MS
