Comments:
That was fun, as I have had almost no time for contesting of late. With all of
my work covering impeachment in Congress, I laughed out loud when my first two
DX contacts of CQWW CW were with stations in Ukraine and Russia. You can't make
that up.
As usual in CQWW CW, I ran some EU up high on 20 meters, but really never got
anything going on other bands. 160 was great to Europe for me. But over two
nights, I could never get PJ2T to even give me a "?" when I called.
Go figure.
80 was the normal struggle. 40 was disappointing. My contacts were down 40
percent from last year - but my mults were almost the same. That's an odd
combination. I made sure not to miss the Saturday opening on 10 meters.
Basically the same stations popped back in on Sunday too, but for a shorter time
frame.
My 100 watts solved some big pileups (V5), but not others (ZD7). I never could
get through to the 3D2 on 40 meters. He was still strong 2+ hours after my
local sunrise on Sunday. It was fun listening to him juggle EU & US
stations. But while he was there, I never heard any JA's on 40, or any Zone 18
& 19 Russians after sunrise. Propagation has been quirky in recent years.
Thanks to everyone for the contacts.
