Comments:
I could only get on to hand out a few Qs, and I had a dilemma. Friday night, I
was going to be in Gwinnett county, and Saturday in Fulton county. If I used my
call from both locations, I could only submit a check log.
So, I decided to use a club call for which I am the trustee. The Trustee was ok
with this. <grin>
This was my first contest since upgrading my K3 to use the KSYN3A synthesizers.
Can't say I could hear much of a difference on 160m. Rig worked extremely well,
as usual.
Conditions appeared to be good. I mostly called CQ, glad to hand out some Qs.
The shunt-fed tower works pretty well, although at times it seems I had
difficulty being heard.
I'd never before used W4LZU in a contest, and some folks balked at the
unfamiliar call. A couple completed the QSO with them asked CALL? Guys, you send
it back to me correctly! Sometimes you just have to copy what you hear, and not
worry about callsign databases.
In about 2 hours of operating time, I had about 150 Qs and shut down for the
night. This wasn't a serious operation. Managed to hand out about 20 more in the
morning.
