SOAPBOX: Icom IC-7300 with 90 watts output,Heil Pro Micro Headset,Vectronics
HFT-1500 Manual Tuner,and a modified ZS6BKW up 50 feet,running N-S at 6,053 feet
elevation from Grid DN-71od in Laramie County Wyoming.Oh for the 10 Meter band
conditions of yesteryear! A real slog, with Mexico (CHH) as my only DX,and way
too many (29!) 6 landers comprising 67% of my 43 Q log. At least I beat last
years 16 contact,352 final score.Got a lot done in the shack while my 7300
"canned voice" called CQ for minutes at a time.I can now confirm that
the internal fan never allowed the rig to overheat in spite of this demanding
high SSB duty cycle. Thanks to those that heard and worked me. I heard fellow
GMCC club member, W0ETT at S-2 to S-4 more than once, but alas he could not hear
my 100 watt wire antenna signal wll enough to make a valid Q. It certainly was
not for lack of trying! Another "100 Watts and a Wire" Adventure is in
the books. November Seven Many Zebras Walking-Cheyenne, WY.
