K3CCR is the club station at the Collington continuing-care
retirement community at FM 18OW in MD, just east of DC. N3UM and
W3GB operated Multi-2 in Jan. 2020 NAQP SSB.
To start, 20 and 40m. were great. From 18-2135Z N3UM ran for 225 Qs
on 20m. From 18-2226Z W3GB ran for 228 Qs on 40m. Total 73 St/Pv
mults. As in NAQP CW, skip on 20m. was long and loud; N3UM got CA,
BC, HI, and AK plus most W7 and W0, but no OH. On 40m. W3GB got PA
out to TX and SD.
After a quick supper N3UM ran on 80m. 22-01Z for 200 Qs. At 2230Z
W3GB saw rate drop on 40m; before that, he had made many Qs out to
~TX, and sunset in W6 was still hours away. He did run for 30 Qs till
0004Z on 40m, then got NM, AZ, WY, MT, WA, and BC as sunset moved west.
After his quick supper W3GB was on 80m. 0109Z till 0536Z QRT and got
157 Qs, 131 of them in 1 long and 3 short runs.
Meanwhile 0115-0300Z N3UM found better rates on 40m. as sun set in CA;
he made 109 Qs, 106 of them running. N3UM then made 93 Qs on 160m.
0306-0521Z, 58 of them in 2 short runs.
After 05Z rates crashed; just 12 Qs on 80m. and 4 on 160 by 0526Z.
Easy decision to QRT; not worth another half-hour of 2-man BIC for
maybe 16 more Qs.
W3GB did make ONE last QSO on 80m, N3QE at 0535; Go, Tim!
We got all 50 states and 7 VE provinces, but just 4 cty mults;
KP4, ZF, and KP2 on two bands.
