Highlights from the ARRL DX CW contest:
1. Going to 80 on Friday night and being pleasantly surprised by the quantity
and strength of EU signals
2. Working JT1CO on 40 Saturday morning. Not notable for a lot of operators but
a big deal for a poor ham radio operator from rural Ontario! Got to thank my JK
402 beam for a new band slot.
3. Real nice run into EU on Sunday AM plus lots of JA Sunday evening.
4. Although I like 40 a lot I tend to under utilize that band. When the chips
were down on Sunday that band saved my bacon.
5. Working a VK for a new multiplier with 15 minutes to go. That qso put me over
1.6M. After logging him I immediately shut down and began the celebration!
Lowlights from the ARRL DX CW contest:
1. Sunday morning I destroyed my alarm clock when it rang and slept in - almost
too long. Ended up literally running for the radio so I could get a prime seat
for The Big Show. Didn't even bother to put on my shoes. Paid for that all
morning as my house is kept cold but I couldn't tear myself from the run
frequency.
2. Losing my run frequency after several prime time hours. I'm OK with that as I
know the station that got the frequency and I'm sure they gave it a good home.
As usual, it's a jungle out there...

Doug
