Comments:
I don't normally participate in contests where everyone can use assistance
because part of the challenge and satisfaction of a contest to me is finding my
own multipliers. If it were not for this problem, I would put in a lot more
hours in this contest since the format is otherwise quite good. I like contests
with serial numbers and I really enjoy copying cut numbers from those good
European ops who use them.
Since I was operating remote from Japan, I would have had to stay up late to
operate 20 and 15, so I decided not to miss any sleep and just play around a
little on the low bands during the day my time. With 100 watts and dipoles, it
was difficult to hear and/or work Russians, but since there was not so much NA
activity, the pileups on stations like SV, 4X, CE, etc. were not bad so I was
able to work some stations that are ordinarily hard for me to work.
There seemed to be quite a few more South American stations on than is usual in
ARRL DX or CQWW.
