Comments:
First of all we announce that we were NOT MS. We were M2. We know this category
does not exist in the JIDXC. We decided to have as much fun as possible. This
log will be submitted as a CHECK LOG so that it can be used for QSO
verification. MS was too restrictive for 6 guys to have fun. By going M2 not
only would the ops have a good time but more JAs would be worked which is also
more fun for them. Almost always, only 2 bands were active towards JA. We
decided with the stay at home policy in California that it would be a good thing
for guys stuck at home to have a way to operate the station remotely: 4 of the 6
ops were able to operate remote. Thanks to Ken for hosting this event and
solving local problems.

160: The first night was good. More JAs than ever. The second night propagation
was poor. I could hear many JAs calling very weakly but no call was picked out.
N6RO
80: the first night had good propagation all the way thru to 1500z, with the
last burst of callers at 1430. Moderate amount of lightning noise. About 10% of
the callers must have been QRP or poor antennas. I only abandoned a few as
barely detectable. Biggest surprise was getting called by a VU around 1430; too
bad it didn’t count. Always a pleasant contests with the gentlemen JAs. NA6O
40 first night was noisy at the start but soon quieted down and produced a nice,
steady rate for the entire shift. It seemed as if many JA participants did not
understand the requirement to send their prefecture number and were defaulting
to zone 25.K6AW
40: 40m Sat morning was pretty good, band stayed open to JA through 16:30 N6WM
40/80: Second night was slow, even with SO2R on 40/80. Beginning at 0700,
hourly rates were 29/34/32/14/19/21. 80 meters was best at the 1100 hour with
11 Qs. Total 80m Qs for the second night was only 21. Total 40m Qs for the
second night was 128.Most of the time I was CQ'ing on 40 and after 0915, dual
CQ'ing on 40/80. As there were very few stations to S&P, I used
"Available Mults and Qs," which was much more useful than the band map
(easier to spot new stations.) These were worked with one or two calls.
Occasionally there were Flex switching issues with dual CQ. The general rate was
slow enough that I needed something else to keep me awake, so I was off using
another application (such as a web browser) when I'd get a call and have to get
the mouse over to N1MM to abort the CQ before it overwrote the calling station.
This happened more times than I would have liked. But at that slow rate, you
need to do something to stay awake. I had really hoped I could get us to the
1000 Q mark,but it was not to be. Many very weak signals requiring multiple
repeats, a few I just couldn't pick out at all. Conditions seemed mediocre and
noisy. Some stations gave pref. numbers that didn't match their call signs, or
didn't give any JCC number at all. Sometimes this was remedied by asking for
"JCC?" WD6T
20: During the day on Sat the band opened about 20z (5am in JA)…a steady
flow of JAs were available without any real runs. The best time to JA on 20 was
between 03z and 0830z. Yes, the band was open well both nights. K3EST
20 meters the second night was less active but produced a decent amount of
contacts until 080zz .K6AW
15: Efforts yielded very little, with no real path to JA either direct or SKU.
I managed to log 1 qso that was right on the noise floor which as far as I know
may be the only qso between NA and JA on 15m this test. Ironically I was able
to solidly copy VK and ZL and YB through this entire period, but not useful in
this test. N6WM
