First time on in a while and amazing I got my butt out of bed at 0530 local to
join. I just rearranged and automated my station (BPFs, antennas, etc.), so
wanted to make sure I was ready for CQ WPX CW weekend. Turns out it was good I
checked - had a bunch of software integration issues between SmartSDR running on
PC and Maestro and N1MM+. Also, PGXL software wasn't connecting to SmartSDR, so
I had to restart everything. Took about 13 minutes to actually get OTA.
Turns out I can almost do high power SO2R if the SteppIR is on a higher band
than the dipole (both are on the same tower). If I go the other way and run a kW
or more, there's no RX on the higher band while I'm transmitting as the desense
is just too great. Another lesson learned. Well, that and find a property some
day that allows two towers spaced a quarter mile apart.
Have a work meeting at noon here, so will try to join for the late session.
Thanks for the QSOs!
