Comments:
K3CCR is the club station at the Collington continuing-care
retirement community at FM 18OW in MD, just east of DC. N3UM and
W3GB operated Multi-1 HP in the June 2020 Stew Perry.
Our goal was to beat the 175 points we got in June 2019, our only
other time in the June Stew. We did that. N3UM got on first and ran
for 3.1 hr 2252-0158Z at “summer rates”, ~20-30/hr. At times no
one answered for 8-12 min. Most Qs were for 1 or 2 points, but
at ~01Z there were two 5-pointers, VO1’s in GN37.
At 02Z we were still behind our 6/19 score. W3GB then got on for
the anchor lap 02-05Z, pouncing on high-point-value Qs as sunset
moved west. He got some 2- to 5-point Qs, and in the last hr. DN26
for 7 points plus CM98 and CN85 for 8 points each. He took our
score to a claimed 233 points at 05Z, 133% of our 6/19 result.
After 05Z W3GB found nobody to work; not clear whether propagation
died or most ops quit to sleep. We intend to do the Oct. and Dec. Stews.
