Comments:
Well, what an interesting contest. When I first read the rules, I was pretty
much against working everyone (not just exclusively Maine stations), but as the
contest progressed, I realized this was almost like a SS or NAQP contest, on a
smaller scale. I started a couple hours late, but got into the groove shortly
afterwards. There was a considerable Maine presence and hats off to all the
Maine ops. Of course the majority of contacts were with non-Maine stations.
The bands seemed very strange to me, with 20M almost dead most of the day. I
believe there was some type of solar event that may have played a role. 40M was
my money band and made some real nice runs on 40 phone. Speaking of odd
conditions, I worked a CA station on 80CW, believe it was KI6RRN, and there was
considerable fluttering on the signal, reminding me of the days when I used to
worked Russians over the north pole. So, some very interesting conditions
coupled with a very interesting (unique) QSO party. Thanks to all for the Q's!
