Comments:
Strictly SnP, this is one of my better scores.
I'm using the temporary MFJ G5RV-Jr, just mostly hanging on the side of the
house. Today I decided to quit forcing it onto 80m and stuck to 40m and 20m. The
amplifier's ATU gets 1:1 on both bands but on 40 produces chirping noises above
about 750w; I ran 600w on its LOW range. Full power on 20, but the 1500w signal
sets off either a CO or smoke detector upstairs. A quick dart upstairs showed
nothing amiss, so I ignored it. All quiet now!
The HF9V is lying across lawn chairs in the back yard but is almost ready to be
slipped into its ground mount. I hope to be using it next week, but this little
cheap old G5RV-Jr is a surprising delight as a backup.
Thanks for the QSOs, guys; Happy Thanksgiving and 73 --- John K3GHH
