Comments:
Excellent high band condx were certainly anticipated with the rapidly rising SFI
and SN solar indexes. Even 80m produced decent EU openings both nights but 160
disappointed with limited activity. Somewhat disturbed condx on 40m early Friday
night with solar flaring but then settled down as EU came roaring in very late
around 11PM local time.
20m is always the money band in this event out here but petered out a few hours
after local sunset both nights. You know the F2 layers are lit up pretty good
when you hear loud sigs from all directions around the globe. The morning EU
openings hit early and were gangbusters both days. 15m was decent to most
regions but EU was mostly from the western fringe. EA, CR, EA8, and CN were very
loud. 10m delivered a PY/LU QSO party and not much else but at least it was open
all day long both days.
Covid partially explains the superb activity, especially from the far east and
OC. Can't recall working so many B's, YB, HL, VK and ofcourse J's. Overall, the
bands sounded like the cycle is heating up a little bit ahead of its time. A
very fun and welcome change indeed!
