Skipped 80m again, until I get some radials on the newly ground-mounted HF9V.
The 2K-FA doesn't like SWRs in the mid 2's and I can't do better even with the
manual Palstar.
The amp's autotuner got a 1.2 across our narrow 40m contest range (I did limit
it to 600w to avoid chirping noises out of the amp). Ready to QSY to 20m, I
looked at the antenna switch: Its power was OFF, and since default is the little
G5RV-Jr, I'd been using that, without realizing it, on 40!
On 20 I switched to the HF9V (still, of course, radial-free) and ran the full
1500w. It makes a smoke or CO detector upstairs chirp a few times but that stops
at 1400z!
