Comments:
This contest was my test run to compare FT4, FT8, PSK31 and RTTY side-by-side in
a contest. As expected, RTTY gave the best QSO rates, but FT4 wasn’t too
shabby. More activity on that mode would make a difference. FT8 was useful when
the band was imperfect and PSK31 got through when everything else seemed pretty
dead. There was a simultaneous PSK31 contest, and that brought out some
activity.
The limiting factor here is the attic antenna. It’s currently a 68 foot
dipole, tunable on all bands. HOA, you understand.
I spent four sessions, a couple of hours each time, on this contest. No
operation between 10pm and 8am. It was fun.
