IC-7610 + Steppir 3 el with 40M + 80M vertical + 160M inverted-V
What the heck was wrong with 80M and 160M from out west tonight? Like, lights
out from VE7. Couldn't be the antennas, could it?
9.75 hours on. As has occurred in each of the past three years, things were
going fabulously until I went to 40M -- then the wheels fell off. 40M was okay
over time, but 80M and 160M were severely disappointing and produced far fewer
Qs and mults than I once enjoyed on those two lower bands.
As a result, the multiplier count is rather depressed. A bit better than last
year with 45 minutes more in the chair today. Still, very disheartening to have
so much fun during daylight only to have little to inspire in the evening. Such
is life in the northern latitudes over here on the west side.
The spring to-do list is getting longer as I dream up antenna changes for once
the weather warms. 160, 80 and 40 all get make-overs. This time I mean it.(tm)
Really wanted to crack 100,000 but "missed it by that much." Nice to
hear Scott VY1CO handing out the YT mult. And thanks Todd for the 160M SK mult
with a minute to go -- one more like that and I'd have hit my goal :)
