Comments:
There are contests, and there are contests, but the 5 hours I spent in this one
will be one that I will not soon forget. In the week or so leading up to it, I
had been slammed with FCG admin duties and prep for the upcoming HamCation QSO
Party, so I was going to pass on the CQWW 160.
I didn't log into the contest until late Saturday afternoon. I worked a few
stations, but did not resume until 0247z, 9:47pm local. The band was crawling
with activity, and noise was low. In the next four and a half hours I worked all
states (other than ND & AK), 45 countries (mostly Eastern Europeans), and
had three runs of 63 Qs (131/hr), 44 Qs (193/hr) and 72 Qs (112/hr). All of this
running a K3 with diversity receive, a KW and an Inverted L for both TX and RX.
I do not have an effective RX antenna on 160.
This is why we contest. Every now and then, a contest comes along that makes it
all worth it! Tnx everyone for the Qs.
