Comments:
Started off Low Power and was off to a good start with 400 Qs at about 0430Z and
some EU in the log (mostly calling me). Then BAM - antenna system was dead.
There is 18 inches of snow on the ground and the overnight lows this weekend
were -15F. So that was it for me until daylight.
Went out and looked and found that a tree branch and fallen and yanked out my
rear phased vertical. This vertical is always in the system for my phased array.
And its 1/4 wave away from the box. So the open become a short in the switch
box.
I got that sorted out (in 5F weather with -15F wind chill) and all worked fine
starting Saturday at about 21Z. But obviously the contest was over from a LP
competitive standpoint. Turned on the amp to maximize Qs and check the system
out. EU was not as good here Saturday night at all. Although it sounds like
the sunrise run was good but I hung up the shoes around 05Z and hadn't seen any
improvement.
Its a fun contest.
