Comments:

This weekend was a lot of fun on 160 meters for me. Too bad I did not spend some
more time at it, in hopes of getting a better score. I was QRV for 8 hours. I
hate to admit it, but I spent more time at my work bench playing with power FETs
and DC power supplies! On 160, I was split between CQing and S&P. I thought
that Friday night and Saturday night were good between me and Europe and the
Carib. Sunday evening was a different story. I turned on the rig about an hour
before sun down on Sunday. I only heard II9P and VYH2ZM. A little later, K1TTT
showed up so I tuned his frequency and vowed to quit working on my FET
aqmplifier if I heard K1TTT start to work stations. All I heard were a bunch of
lonely CQs. I finally looked at my watch and the contest was almost over. It was
2335UT! I jumped in the chair and scanned the band for any new stations to work.
There were almost no stations audible...just the big EU multi-ops. I did find
OL0A who was a new station for me, but I had an awful time getting his
attention. Really, the band was BAD. I finally managed to eke out a contact with
him. There were 5 minutes left. I turned off the rig and went in the house and
heated up my left-over dinner. Gosh, what a difference a day makes!
