Comments:

Started on 80. There was not too much activity. It seems people go to 40 when
there still is good propagation. Rate slowed at about 1320Z. I changed at
1325Z, and perhaps should have moved earlier. 40 was in good shape. At 85 QSOs
at 1330Z. Left lots of unworked stations. Flex keeps hanging in TX mode when
use paddles. Paddles seem to be faster for making corrections and keeping rate
up. Was at 44 WPM for a while and cruising, then dropped it to 40 WPM. Telnet
was not much help because Verizon internet stinks and telnet disconnects after a
few minutes.

Fooled around with trying to get the SteppIR 18e to work on 40, but no luck.
At best it resonates at 7.4 MHZ. Still looking for alternatives. Perhaps a JK
and a 30 M antenna, then a rotating tower with a 3 el 40. The phased slopers
worked really well years ago and it is a good alternative. I didn't get set up
for SO2R. Slept most of yesterday at night and during daylight. Maybe it was
the reaction to the second COVID shot yesterday. Finally bright sun today and
much of the snow has melted!
