First let me say that the plan was to keep in the unassisted category, even if
it didn't exist anymore (shure hope they go back on the decision)
Weekend had everything to go right, slept in the afternoon, everything was
working well, and 2 hours before the contest, when i started CQing on 40mt, most
of the US stations were at least 20db over S9 and a few were 40db over S9.
But just before contest started all changed, even had CQs with no reply, the
pile up was replaced by silence.
During contest best hour was 145Qs/h,that happend 2 times, apart from that the
rate in the entire contest was below 120 Qs/h.
Just to have an idea in the entire first night (8hours) i worked less stations
than in the first 3 hours of the ARRL DX SSB Contest...
Anyway with poor rates and new rule i had to change something to try to
compensate that, i had to do what i didn't want to do..... the assisted
category, on the 2nd night i configured the internet on the log program, and
started working multipliers.
all tooo late, new rules demand new strategy i learned it the hard way.
I had the opportunity to congratulate Gabrielle IR4X, right after the contest,
and will do it here as well. Well done Gabri you played it very well.
