Here I thought I'd just hand out a couple of hundred contacts and be done, but
this bloomed into a nearly full-time effort. My best Georgia QSO Party entry
ever!
Started at 1900z on Saturday, 15m wasn't really open, so 20m and 40m was the
order of the day.I focused mainly on CW, switching to Phone to pick up some
mults, going back to CW for the rate and points. Did have a good run on 40m
around 0115z, where the last 10 meter stayed over 100 for a long while.
I figured I had to hit 80m Saturday, and even went briefly to 160m. Didn't go to
80m phone until Sunday, though.
The K2 performed well. I had a little trouble keying from the second serial port
- it was occasionally erratic in the first hour. I swapped out for my WK3 Serial
-- but the WK3 Serial suddenly stopped working after 20 minutes (like it has
done before...). I went back to keying from the serial port again, and it worked
fine for the next couple of hours, go figure.
The 80/40/20m trap dipole worked well, even at just 33 feet high. It's amazing
what you can work with 100 watts and a piece of wire.
