Comments:
I'd like to say that I went to Classic so I wouldn't be lumped in the assisted
crowd, but that's not how it happened. I went to bed just after 0400utc
Saturday, planning to wake up early. But that did not happen. I slept (sound
asleep) until 1430utc and was then groggy/sleepy almost the entire day. Never
went near the radio.
Around 2100, I remembered the Classic overlay. So I read up and sure...I could
do that! So at 2115 I got back in the contest.
But as luck would have it, I am bad at calculating time when I'm half asleep and
ended up running 42 minutes too long. But the numbers above have that already
backed out...which I had to calculate manually (not much fun).
The other Murphy moment: As all good east coast guys, I planned to get on 40m
towards the end of day 2. So at 21utc, I changed from 20 to 40. But the SWR on
the 3L yagi was HORRIBLE. So I lost 35 minutes try to trouble shoot from the
shack (35 minutes that would not be deducted from my op time), but in the end, I
gave up and stayed on 20m. AND, of course, now I know that the very last 42
minutes on 20 was a complete waste of time because it went over the limit.
Oh well. All in all, I still had a good time (hey, it's CW!). I and worked a
TON of new "counters" for CW Ops awards (fun!)
