Comments:
It is always a pleasure to honor our "Marconi Memorial", but this year
even more, just to try a "remote" operation for the first time. In
agreement with Gabriele IT9RGY, I was able to use his station in Palermo city,
consisting of TS-590G, Spiderbeam and PC with QARtest and various remote control
software; an hour an afternoon to set up the home PC of a "CWsauro"
like me, a couple of afternoons with some QSOs to approach all this good things
for me and understand something, and then Saturday afternoon start shyly (for
fear of making a mistake ) some S&P in 20m and give the first 5nn-001. I
must say that after a bit of "brain adaptation" things began to square
and Sunday morning away with the band changes, and some shy runs at no more than
26/28 wpm ... The first step of the CWsauro was done and the ice is broken!
Wanting to continue on this path there are many small adjustments to be made to
optimize everything: my brain, my PC, knowledge of the Kenwood interfacing
software, QARtest accommodation and the Kenwood interface that must coexist,
many very small microseconds of delay that in CW make you crazy and so on. I
must say that the actual result of the race took a back seat, since for me being
able to make everything work is already a great victory. As usual, many QSOs
with old CW-Friends and a lot of satisfaction!
