K3CCR is the club station at the Collington continuing-care
retirement community at FM 18OW in MD, just east of DC. N3UM and
W3GB operated Multi-2 in July 2021 NAQP RTTY. We did not quite
meet our goal, to beat our 7/20 result, but came close; 1.03X
the mults, 0.94X the Qs, and 0.97 the score claim, 86 vs 88.4K.
We saw very few spots on any band. We ran for 75% of total Qs,
1/2 by each op. All but 2 of our 14 runs were short. With QRN
and fast QSB we made 1/2 as many Qs on 80 M as in 2020. Good to
have 15 M this year, but it could not fill the 80-M gap.
At start 18-2130Z N3UM got our 23 15-M Qs, then 50 40-M Qs. W3GB
18-22Z got 146 Qs on 20 M, 64 in 2 short runs, and 60 more in 1
hr, his one long run. We took 1.5-hr. breaks to eat, with a 1-
hr. overlap.
In 4.7 hrs. 23-0342Z N3UM got 170 Qs on 40 M, 116 in 5 short runs.
In 3 hrs. 2330-0220Z W3GB got 77 more Qs on 20 M, 51 in 2 runs.
Then in 2.8 more hrs. 0240-0526Z W3GB got all 76 of our 80-M Qs,
59 in 2 runs. In 2 hrs 0351-0552Z N3UM got 84 last Qs on 40 M,
79 of them in his one long run.
We did OK on St/Pv mults, 1/2 in the first 3 hrs. Our all-band total
was DC + 47 states; all but AK, DE, and ND, plus ON, QC, NS, and BC.
