Comments:

As I am not competitive in any way from home with just wires, the plan was to
operate off-and-on for a few hours. It ended up being that, but with quite a few
more hours in front of the radio. I have no meaningless point of comparison with
previous years, as I mostly entered this contest in the past from very serious
stations (W7RN, NW6P, W6YX, N6RO), sometimes as a part of the multi-op. So, I
knew those kind of rates would not be possible, which, of course, proved out to
be the case. The best hour was 03-04Z, mostly on 40M, at 76 Q/hr, about evenly
split between CQ and S&P.

States missed were ND, NE, ME & RI. DC and Canadian mults other than ON, BC
& QC were also not worked. I remember hearing HH and VE4, but not being able
to work them.

There was also the matter of the name. I've struggled over the years in contests
that require a name as a part of the exchange with what to send. Since my name
has only one N and could be easily confused with Dennis (with two Ns), I
abbreviated it to Den and went with that for a while, which works OK on CW.
Unfortunately, its not good at all in SSB contests, since it's easily confused
with either Dan or Ben. This time I went with Al, which is a short version of my
middle name, and while I did get a few repeat requests, I think overall it went
pretty well, so I'm planning to stick with that for the foreseeable future.

And one last thing. I feel I just have to say it - GO TEAM OCHO!
