Slowing start, then propagation went sky high; literally filling the band scope
wall to wall, no chance of holding a frequency from these parts, so a more
tedious S&P all weekend. This was my first use of the freshly issued VJ2J
(contest only / no WARC band) callsign.
Missed Zone 2,6,34,36,37,38 & 40 on 20m..
Notable weird propagation where my 5 element OWA yagi lost directional
properties for a few hours but with great signals.. ie, the beam heading sector
135 degrees to 225 degrees( LP-EU to LP-US over South Pole for me) was wide
open. This implied a extreme high angle of arrival where sigs were dropping onto
the top of my yagi.. The last 6 hours of the event was largely noise, with
brilliant sigs only heard beaming due west being received from the Caribbean.
Stand out signals was from LN with 20/9, and TO with 10/9, were real surprises.
