Yet another fun event!
As so often, I didn't think much about what needed to be done beforehand, so I
missed till about 30 minutes before the start that my 160m antenna wasn't
operative and one of my rx antennas had a problem as well. Luckily, all that got
resolved quickly and I was on only 30 minutes late.
Good high band activity allowed to collect a decent amount of multipliers and I
tried to stay as high as possible as long as I could. I think the only band I
could have spent a little more time on was 80m, but I was weighing the odds of
getting more mults on 160m vs. more QSOs on 80 and 40. In hindsight, I probably
should have spent a little less time (~30 minutes) on 40 in favor of 80.
I encountered several odd exchanges I couldn't make heads or tails of, because
of fuzzy code elements. Two or three I dismissed as NIL after a couple of tries;
my apologies, but I won't log something I am not confident about. I suppose some
of them were remotely controlled stations with latency issues, or something like
that.
Not sure what to think about the new Assisted category; I find Assisted rather
boring, but I understand that others don't and cheaters seem to force the
contest sponsors to move away from Unassisted. Please just don't remove
Unassisted altogether, because this would undermine the abilities of true
Unassisted ops. I prefer appearing in a score table where I lose to better
operators and a few cheaters, rather than being forced into a category that does
not fit my operating style. Just because some low power entrants cheat and use
more than 100W, you won't get rid of the low power category altogether, right?
Thanks everyone and till the next one!

Wolf
