Here’s my Li’l Pistol report (100w to one-half an 80m dipole, all S&P).
Friday night had plenty of activity but I wasn’t hearing stations as far away
as in the past on 160m. And there was slow and deep QSB. While I worked plenty
of stations in the 1, 2, 3, 4, 8 and 9 call areas, plus half the population of
Ontario and a couple of Maritime provinces, I heard nothing from the 5, 6, 7 and
0 call areas (nor KH6 or KL7). My only DX this evening was ZF5T.

Saturday morning 0600-0700 was populated mostly by my dupes from the night
before, but I was able to work 21 new ones along the Eastern seaboard.

Saturday evening I found less activity than the night before with that same
annoyingly slow QSB, just like AM broadcast signals (e.g., deep fade just as
Fibber McGee was about to open his infamously jam-packed closet) I did work NP2J
just before going QRT at 2200.

Sunday morning I flipped on the rig at 0615 and found QSB still present in the
slow and deep variety plus a faster variety that quickly faded in the middle of
someone’s call letters. By 0700 the band was growing weak and fewer stations
were heard, only locals were audible; distant stations had faded away. When I
signed off at 0722 I had only 15 new ones.

Sunday afternoon at 1600 I tuned in to see if there was a last-minute rush for
QSOs in progress. Nope, just 2-3 stations CQing endlessly. A few more joined in
during that last hour, allowing me to add four more new ones.

Grand total was 186 QSOs in 29 sections/provinces but only 2 DX stations (NP2J,
ZF5T) resulting in a score of 13,764.*

73, John K4HQK

*Total Score is based on N1MM-calculated points (444) x states/provinces/DX (31)
= 13,764
