K3 + P3 + AL80B at 600-750 watts ; WinTest logging
A part time effort, but fun as usual.
Due to sustained below-freezing temperatures, and previous freezing rain then
snow, the T2X rotator (and possibly the thrust bearings) on the 62 foot tower
with TH6 tribander (at 73 ft) and 40-2CD (at 63ft) was frozen at about 55
degrees all weekend until around noon Sunday. Fortunately, I usually keep the
higher stack parked on Europe in case of problems. This was OK for EU, but a
no-go for JA and Pacific. Had to use the TH2 (at 40 ft) on the 32 foot tower
for JA and Pacific. Fortunately, the Ham 4 rotator on the shorter tower was not
frozen.
DX on 160 meters was better on Saturday night during the sunrise sweep over
Europe.
Thanks for the Qs, Ms, and fun.
73,
Gary . K9MMS
