Comments:
K3CCR is the club station at the Collington continuing-care
retirement community at FM 18OW in MD, just east of DC. I, N3UM,
operated SOHP U in the 2022 ARRL DX SSB; W5MPB had non-ham-radio
duties.
With SFI ~120 my 20 thru 10-M results were super, but with Kp=4
for 9 hrs and 5 for 12 hrs, 80 & 160 M results were poor, & 40-M
results ~OK. I tried but got no run Qs on any band in this test;
unusual for me.
At start 0023-0250Z I clicked spots at ~60/hr for 120 total Qs on
20 & 40 M. But, each bandmap would clear in ~30-60 min, so I had to
swap bands till it filled again. This pattern held thru the test.
At 0253Z I found just 12 80-M sigs in 10 min; 9 were HP EUs, all very
weak. In 7 more min. I found 5 160-M sigs by 0314Z QRT; pitiful.
On again at 1350Z I got 19 EU Qs in 14 min. on 20 M, then 103 Qs
in 2.2 hrs on 15 M! Wow; mostly EU, but also FR and ZS on 15 M.
After lunch 1914-2142Z I got 96 Qs; 37 on 20 M, 33 on 10-M, & 26
on 15 M, most in SA.
After supper 0030 to 0245Z QRT, rates were slow but bandmaps quick
to clear. I got just 62 Qs; 34 on 40 M, 16 on 20 M, and my last 12
Qs on 80 M.
Back on 20 M 1411-1421Z, I got 13 EU Qs + HS and ZL in 10 min,
90/hr, bandmap clear! Far more spots on 15 M; 92 Qs 1430-1630Z,
47/hr, mostly EUs.
After lunch 1849 to 2138Z QRT, the high bands were long and busy.
I got 27 mults and 107 Qs; 45 on 20 M including JA and ZS, 16 on
15 M including 6W, and 46 on 10 M including KH6 & V5. I worked
7Q6M on 3 bands. Sunspots are back.
