Comments:
Last year I set the low power record and I just didn't feel like trying to beat
it. I had operated QRP in 2010 and figured it was about time to do it again.
Also I now have two Elecraft radios and they are easy to set to 5 watts, unlike
the FT-1000mp I had last time.
My goal was to break the Massachusetts record I set in 2010. I didn't think it
was possible to break the overall QRP record. Apparently I was wrong. My score
was slightly above the Mass record when I went to bed. Rates were low for a lot
of Sunday but adequate. I spent a lot of time calling CQ on one radio and
tuning on the other. With five watts there's not much interstation
interference.
Calling DX stations with 5 watts can be frustrating but I did manage to work a
few good multipliers. I missed MS and ND and six Canadian provinces and
territories.
