AE7EU did 7QP from the usual location on the Lake/Kalamath line. The weather
and setup, however was not usual. I had sun, wind, rain, snow, and all that on
repeat about a dozen times while mostly staying cold.

Gear: Teardrop trailer, 10x10 canopy, KX3 and a netbook for a whopping 10W
output into my 80m OCF dipole up at 80+ft. I probably should have just run 5W
and kept myself in a QRP category, ohwell. I measured the center height this
year as 80'. I now have a custom 7QP antenna and RG8X coax specifically for
7QP. The teardrop and my 10x10 canopy did a great job, and having a propane
fire pit really keeps the outdoor cooking area cozy.

The operation was, as per typical for me, lazy. I made 2 sideband contacts and
29 CW, mostly 15 & 20m. I spent a good amount of time reading and sleeping
in from a crazy week at work, glad to be outdoors and away from cell service. I
would have worked more NEQP on Sunday, but my computer decided it wasn't going
to see the com ports anymore and shut down and I just didn't bother.

I wasn't putting in huge effort, and the KX3 and its mighty 10W of power output
was about matching. I was able to work several 15m east coast stations CW no
problem whatsoever.

I ran the entire weekend off the teardrop's 100Ah lead acid battery with solar
backup. With as much as I operate, the TS590 could probably be used next year
if running solo. I did find that my 500W inverter which I use to charge my
laptop puts out horrible, horrible noise on 20m and below when turned on to
charge the laptop, so I would just charge the laptop between operating. While
running battery, this area I can hear down to the galactic noise floor.

Other oddball highlights: Found a tick on my propane fire stove, only one,
maybe fell off from my Jacket I guess. Found mouse droppings in my shoe. Guess
they were exploring at night under the teardrop? I froze the propane tank to
the ground.
